CARLO SAND BLOW


A bush walk up to Carlo Sand Blow is a must for every visitor. Drive to the reservoir at the top of Cooloola Drive. The sand blow is an easy 600m walk from the car park. Spectacular views of The Coloured Sands, Double Island Point and Tin Can Bay Inlet are the bonus for your efforts. When the thermals are right, you will often see Hang Gliders and Para-Gliders taking off and landing at this beautiful piece of Nature.

COLOURED SANDS


Read the Legend of the Coloured Sands and then walk along the beach towards Double Island Point for a kilometer or so to these majestic coloured sand cliffs. Or you can take a half-day tour, which will show them off in all their glory - and lots more besides.


DOUBLE ISLAND POINT


Double Island Point provides excellent opportunities for Fantastic fishing and on a good day the surfing can be excellent with a break up to 500 metres.

A RAINFOREST WALK - BYMIEN PICNIC AREA

A few kilometers from town, on the Gympie road, take the Freshwater Road to the left. 3km on a good gravel surface will bring you to Bymien, which is the limit for conventional vehicles. After morning tea or lunch in the picnic area you can do some wonderful walks to Lake Poona or through some spectacular Rainforest. Allow 40 minutes to reach Lake Poona.


DOLPHIN VIEWING at TIN CAN BAY

Just thirty-minutes by car or by Dolphin Ferry to Tin Can Bay through Cooloola Cove and you can see the wild Dolphins come in to be hand fed at the Norman Point Public Boat Ramp. Have a look around this pretty little town while you are there.

TIN CAN INLET - by Canoe

Take a half day Eco- Tour. Paddling in the crystal clear waters you will experience the natural tranquility of Tin Can Inlet, Pick up Carlo Point.

FRASER ISLAND

This is the largest sand island in the world and is World Heritage Listed. Unless you intend holidaying on Fraser Island, your best way of seeing all its beauty is to take a 1 day or 2 day tour, for bookings phone 54 868 888. Or you can make the trip in your own 4WD, driving up the road or beach to Inskip Point and crossing in the barge (10 Minutes to Fraser Island). Remember that going independently, a permit is required and is available from the National Parks Office at the entrance to Rainbow Beach.
